One Aphasia Action is a set of small, actionable activities you can do from home that will help you retain speech progress.
You’re stuck at home, but you can always escape into a story. Reading involves words and vocabulary. It doesn’t matter if the book is easy or hard. If you listen to an audiobook or read the story on a page. All reading or listening to stories is good because it focuses your brain on words, and any focus on words is helpful when it comes to aphasia.
Your library card will allow you to use Libby or similar apps to check out e-books at home while libraries are closed. Every person (even if you don’t have a library card) can also check out books using the Internet Archive’s Open Library. This is a good time to return to old favorites you’ve enjoyed before.
You can find all of the One Aphasia Action activities on this list. This works best if you start on Day 1 and work at your own pace, even if you’re finding this project long after April 1st. Try every activity, even if you only do it once. Keep doing the activities you like, repeating them the next day along with the new activity, and drop the ones that don’t work for you.
