What is the research about?

  • Investigates how individuals with language disorder (i.e., aphasia) understand and produce language.
  • Involves a comprehensive assessment of language and cognitive abilities, with emphasis on connected speech sampling.
  • Investigates neural correlates of connected speech in aphasia using MRI.
  • Behavioral testing can be completed online or in person.

Who is this study for?

  • Left-hemisphere aphasia
  • Onset due to a stroke or dementia
  • English as first language
  • Age 40-85 years old

Who is this study not for?

  • History of self-reported head trauma and psychotic disorder resulting in significant cognitive sequelae;
  • Severe motor speech deficit upon prescreening assessment
  • Western Aphasia Battery-R Aphasia Quotient score > 93
  • Non-English speakers
