This Month’s Topic (January, 2026):
Your Communication Journey: Beyond the Aphasia Diagnosis
When someone is first diagnosed with aphasia, they may hear words like “global aphasia,” “Broca’s,” or “anomic aphasia.” But what do those labels really mean? And do they still apply as communication improves?
In this Lunch & Learn, we’ll talk about how aphasia is diagnosed—and why it’s more helpful to focus on communication strengths and goals instead of labels that may not change over time. We’ll look at different ways people express and understand language, and how these skills can grow. Whether your diagnosis is new or years old, this session is for anyone who wants to better understand how communication works now, not just at the time of injury.
Open to people with aphasia, families, and anyone who supports them.
