Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Davetrina Seles Gadson: Revisiting the Wisdom and Mission of True Health Equity in the Aphasia Community

Description: The National Aphasia Association (NAA) proudly honors the legacy of Dr. Davetrina Seles Gadson, a remarkable leader in speech-language pathology and health equity. Her groundbreaking work advanced our understanding of aphasia care for underserved communities and inspired a commitment to fostering change in healthcare systems. Today’s webinar will honor her legacy by:
- Introducing the Dr. Davetrina Seles Gadson Health Equity Grant Program, an initiative designed to support innovative projects that address systemic inequities in aphasia care and research. The 2026 application is now open; the deadline is February 10, 2026 at 11:59pm ET.
- Replaying portions of the February 2024 Ask the Expert webinar: Clinical Diversity Issues in Aphasia
- Those who knew Dr. Seles and/or were influenced by her work will be sharing their thoughts.

- All webinars are recorded. They are posted to our Ask the Expert Webinar Library and YouTube channel within a week of the live event.
- Submit questions for our experts: You are welcome and encouraged to submit your questions for our expert(s) in advance. You will also be able to submit questions during the live webinar.
- After the Expert: Join us for our interactive “After the Expert” program the week after the webinar. In this monthly educational session, we will have an opportunity to learn more about the topic shared in this month’s “Ask the Expert” webinar and have more questions answered.
- Speech-Language Pathologists: We are now offering one Professional Development Hour (1 PDH) for live attendees of our monthly “Ask the Expert” webinar. SLPs who attend the entire webinar will be able to download a Certificate of Verification of Attendance at the end of the webinar to count toward one hour of your continuing education requirements. A certificate will not be offered for those who watch the recorded event.
