Aphasia providers are located around the world! The NAA has compiled a list of international aphasia providers, organized by continent and country.

Global

• Association Internationale Aphasia:  A global nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness, fostering collaboration, and promoting research on aphasia, connecting individuals, professionals, and organizations worldwide. The association includes representatives from national aphasia organizations in Europe, the U.S., Canada, Japan, Argentina, and Australia.
• Aphasia United: Aphasia United is a world-leading international organisation that is driving change by uniting the global aphasia community.  We are doing this through partnerships with national and international researchers, clinicians, and consumers with a shared vision.
• International Aphasia Movement (IAM): Provides online therapy, resources, and community to anyone with aphasia

North America

Canada

• The Aphasia Institute: A leader in aphasia support, education, and advocacy, the Aphasia Institute provides programs for individuals with aphasia and their families, while also training professionals and advancing communication-access practices globally.
  
• Aphasia Nova Scotia: A regional nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals with aphasia in Nova Scotia, Aphasia Nova Scotia offers peer support groups, community programs, and resources to help people and families navigate life after aphasia with confidence and connection.
• Aphasia Friendly Canada:  Their mission is to create a more inclusive environment for people living with aphasia. They provide Canadian businesses with specialized training and resources to help them become Aphasia Friendly. By equipping businesses with practical tools and strategies, they’re helping foster better communication and understanding, ensuring businesses can effectively serve and engage individuals with aphasia.
• House of Aphasia Foundation (la Fondation Maison de l’aphasie): This foundation raises and provides funds to the AQPA to support its essential activities and services. In doing so, it supports activities promoting the social participation of people with aphasia and their loved ones.
• Aphasie Québec: Its mission is to support individuals with aphasia and their caregivers by collaborating with researchers, health professionals, government bodies, and funders to improve quality of life
• Aphasia Centre of Ottawa: The ACO is a not-for-profit with the goal of making Aphasia easier to live with. They do that by: reducing isolation, improving communication with families, and providing communication education.
• Halton-Peel Community Aphasia Programs: Provide services and resources to individuals living with aphasia and their families across Burlington, Milton, Oakville, Mississauga, and Brampton, Ontario. Programs are grounded in the Life Participation Approach to Aphasia (LPAA), prioritizing meaningful community re-engagement and communication success.

Mexico

• Afasia Contacto:  This organization has been supporting people with aphasia and their families for nearly 30 years. Services include in-person speech therapy, teletherapy, group activities, music therapy, and workshops for family members and caregivers. Additionally, train professionals, develop resources, and raise public awareness about aphasia.
• Afasia por Latinoamérica: Offers arts based therapy, education, and support for people with aphasia across Latin America through music, art, movement, and professional training

Jamaica

• Jamaica Stroke Alliance:  (JSA) held its first Stroke Support Group meeting on November 4, 2023, at the University of the West Indies. What a morning it was! There were over 60 people gathered in fellowship, to learn, to inspire and to be inspired. The gathering consisted of stroke survivors, caregivers, and friends. You could feel the anticipation in the air as participants greeted each other and settled down for this first of its kind session.

South America

Argentina

• Aphasia Foundation Argentina “Charlotte Schwarz”

Bolivia

• Fundación Boliviana de Afasia: Volunteers can support the Foundation either by assisting people with aphasia and their caregivers, or by helping with fundraising and organizational management

Brazil

• Brazilian Aphasia House (Casa da Afasia): A therapy center that helps people with aphasia regain communication skills through activities, cultural experiences, and intensive speech language support.
• Rede Afasia Brasil: The Afasia Brasil Network supports people with aphasia and their families by promoting awareness, education, professional training, research, and the development of specialized care and prevention policies.

Colombia

• Afasia Vital: Network founded by Carolina Ulloa with members in the Americas and Spain. They have daily classes conducted remotely by speech therapists from various countries. Also, other professionals help with issues of mental health, information, and support (in Spanish).  

Chile

• Agrupación Afasia Chile: Non-profit organization sponsored by the School of Speech-Language Pathology at Universidad Mayor and the Universidad Mayor Speech-Language Clinic (CFUM).
• Vivir con Afasia: Vivir con Afasia s a project that seeks to support People with Aphasia (PWA)  aimed at significantly and collaboratively improving their quality of life. Europe

Austria

• Aphasie – Club: An aphasia group that meets every two weeks to support individuals with aphasia and create community.
• VÖS & AB: A nonprofit founded by people affected by stroke and aphasia. Their mission is to empower survivors and support their families through recovery, better care, and community outreach

Belgium

• Stroke and Go:  a patient association committed to fighting stroke and its after-effects, particularly aphasia. It conducts information and awareness-raising activities targeting all audiences in Belgium, ranging from young people to the elderly. Prevention requires a better understanding of the risks, while the treatment of aphasia relies on approaches such as speech therapy, language games, and choirs

Denmark

• Afasi-Gruppe: Afasi-Gruppe is a Facebook group led by three people with aphasia. The group serves as a link between people with aphasia and whatever goes on for people with aphasia. This group is not directly engaged in activities, but links to physical groups, an online community for people with aphasia, advocacy activities, talks etc. 

Estonia

• Eesti Afaasialiit (Estonian Aphasia Association): a patient driven organization advocating for individuals with aphasia in Estonia. It marks over 30 years of activity in promoting awareness, support, and inclusion for people with communication impairments following stroke or brain injury.

Finland

• Aivoliitto ry (Finnish Brain Association): Finland’s leading public health organization supporting individuals with stroke, aphasia, and developmental language disorders (DLD), as well as their families. They aim to reduce the secondary burdens of these conditions and advocate for high quality care across the country.

France

• Fédération Nationale des Aphasiques de France: France’s national voice for people with aphasia, offering peer led support, advocacy, educational resources, and regional groups to help individuals and families navigate life after aphasia.

Germany

• Bundesverband Aphasie e. V. :  a national self-help organization for people living with acquired language disorders (aphasia), especially following stroke or brain injury

Hungary

• AFÁZIA – Az Újrabeszélők Egyesülete (Hungarian Aphasia Association):  a group dedicated to supporting people living with aphasia. They provide advocacy, information, rehabilitation, therapy, and tools specifically designed for Hungarian-speaking aphasia patients.
• Afázia Egyesület: The only NGO in Hungary advocating for the rights of people with aphasia. They offer Speech and Language Therapy sessions (group or individual), Psychological Support Groups (for caretakers or people with aphasia)

Ireland

•  Aphasia Ireland: A grassroots initiative providing support, community, and advocacy for people living with aphasia in Ireland, primarily through online engagement and awareness efforts.

Italy

•  A.IT.A. Federazione – Associazioni Italiane Afasici: A grassroots initiative providing support, community, and advocacy for people living with aphasia in Ireland, primarily through online engagement and awareness efforts.
• Coro degli Afasici:   The Florentine Aphasia Group was founded in 2012 through the collaboration of the Alice Firenze and AAT – Associazione Afasici Toscana associations. Before the pandemic, the group met one Saturday morning a month and organised various initiatives to raise awareness of aphasia and promote socialisation and communication. For some time, the group members had wanted to form a choir.

Portugal

• The IPAFASIA Association, or also known as the Portuguese Aphasia Institute (IPA), it has been welcoming people with aphasia and their families for over 10 years, helping them to rebuild that thread — with gestures, images, sounds, strategies and, above all, with presence and humanity.

Scotland

• Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland:  Supports hundreds of Scots with aphasia, online, in person, and after therapy.

Spain

•  Asociación Ayuda Afasia: An organization dedicated to empowering people with aphasia through personalized therapy, caregiver support, community outreach, and nationwide awareness campaigns.
• Afasia Activa es una asociación de pacientes, familiares y especialistas relacionados con la afasia. Nace de la necesidad de ofrecer un entorno participativo y rehabilitador para personas afectadas por afasia después del alta hospitalaria
• Asociación de Afásicos de Cantabria, es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro, creada en 1994 por un equipo de profesionales preocupados por la evolución de los afásicos en unión de un grupo de familias, cuidadores y voluntarios.

Switzerland

• aphasiesussie: Swiss Aphasia supports professionals in various fields throughout Switzerland. Their goal is to disseminate and expand knowledge about aphasia. They offer an extensive directory of specialists and support services. As a member, you can read our specialist journal, which covers aphasia and related fields, and take advantage of exciting specialized courses.

United Kingdom

•  The Aphasia Alliance: A network of UK organizations collaborating to raise awareness, improve services, and ensure the voices of people with aphasia are heard in healthcare, policy, and society.
• Say Aphasia:   Provides supportive drop in groups for people with aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, and primary progressive aphasia.  

Asia

India

• The Aphasia and Stroke Association of India: A nonprofit organization providing therapy, education, and long term support for individuals with aphasia and stroke related communication challenges, while also training professionals and raising public awareness across India.

Singapore

• AphasiaSG:  An organization committed to improving the lives of people with aphasia through comprehensive support services, advocacy, and innovative community programs

Malaysia

• The Aphasia Association of Malaysia: A grassroots initiative offering resources, education, and community support for individuals with aphasia and their families, raising awareness and encouraging understanding across Malaysia through digital outreach.

Africa

South Africa

• South Africa Speech Language Hearing Association (SASLHA): The national professional body for speech-language therapists and audiologists in South Africa, SASLHA promotes ethical practice, professional development, and public education, advocating for better communication health, including aphasia care, across the country.

Australia / Oceania

Australia

• The Australian Aphasia Association: A national nonprofit supporting people with aphasia, their families, and professionals through peer networks, education, advocacy, and community events committed to improving communication access and quality of life across Australia. 
• Aphasia SA:  An organization providing information, resources, and advocacy for individuals with aphasia, promoting awareness, community inclusion, and improved communication support nationwide.
• Aphasia Victoria: Their mission is to be a hub of information and support for Victorians affected by aphasia and to represent and promote their needs in the community.
• Aphasia WA: Aphasia WA is an organisation that supports people with aphasia and their families who live in Western Australia. 

New Zealand

• Aphasia New Zealand Charitable Trust: a national organisation and registered charity, providing support services, resources, education, and information for anyone in New Zealand living with or affected by aphasia.
