She is the author of numerous publications, including the acclaimed book, Aphasia and other acquired neurogenic language disorders: A guide for clinical excellence. Dr. Hallowell has extensive experience in transnational and cross-cultural engagement in healthcare, promoting within-culture leadership and sustainability, especially in API/AAPI and Desi contexts. She serves as a World Health Organization WHO consultant, representative to the WHO’s World Rehabilitation Alliance, Director of Research for Aphasia Recovery Connection, and Plural Publishing Editorial Consultant. She is a former dean, professor, chair of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s International Issues Board and committee on ethics in global engagement, and president of the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
