Elizabeth Bushey-Siler
I joined the department in 2023 as a Clinical Educator, specializing in Medical Speech-Language Pathology. After earning my master’s degree in 2016, I began my career at the Speech Center in Winston-Salem, NC, where I gained experience working in a variety of settings and across the lifespan during my Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY). In 2017, I returned to the High Country and transitioned to a skilled nursing facility in Wilkesboro, NC. There, I focused on the assessment and rehabilitation of adults and geriatric individuals with swallowing disorders, aphasia, and cognitive-linguistic disorders. During this time, I discovered a passion for clinical supervision while mentoring graduate student clinicians and a CFY.
I am an active member of the North Carolina Speech Hearing & Language Association (NCSHLA) and the North Carolina Association of Supervisors in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology (NCASSPA). I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals with aphasia in achieving their personal communication goals. Leading aphasia groups and fostering social communication communities brings me immense joy, as these spaces offer individuals a sense of belonging and highlight the importance of communication in enhancing quality of life.
Originally from Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, I now reside in Deep Gap, NC, with my husband, son, and dog. In my free time, I enjoy exploring pop culture podcasts, reading, and savoring a great cup of coffee.
