At Exeter Hospital, we provider person- and family-centered language therapy for people with aphasia following a stroke, from degenerative disease like primary progressive aphasia, and from brain tumors. Therapy can be one-on-one with a Speech-language pathologist (SLP) or part of a support group. Language therapy can focus on:
- Restoring language including talking, understanding others, reading and writing,
- Building effective and efficient communication skills
- Re-integrating in your community
- Training communication strategies like AAC and speech-generating devices
- Communication coaching for care partners and family members
- Screening for common co-occurring disorders
