Intensive Treatment for Aphasia Program (In Person)
ITAP is an intensive treatment program for adults with aphasia. Graduate students in speech-language pathology work with clients to improve overall communication abilities and life participation through 1:1 and group treatment sessions for up to 6 hours/day, 2 days per week (Tues/Thurs), for 6 weeks. Following individualized assessment (which takes in May), a task-specific approach is employed; student clinicians work with clients to help them choose their own goals. Goals are targeted through traditional therapeutic approaches, as well as by activities that encourage carryover of communication skills in the community. Clients also use technology to maximize communication skills and receive follow-up recommendations to promote continued improvement.
Late spring through mid-July. Tuesdays and Thursdays 9am-3pm.
PPA Resource & Discussion Group (Both Virtual or In Person)
The PPA Resource and Discussion Group was started in 2015 by a speech-language pathologist and a spouse of a person with primary progressive aphasia (PPA) to serve people affected by the syndrome, including their care partners and professionals who treat them. The group meets monthly at the Loyola Clinical Centers in Belvedere Square which is in Baltimore nearest Towson. The option to join the group sessions on Zoom is possible as group members are from across the state. Meetings are monthly on Wednesdays from 1-2:30pm.
Monthly, Wednesdays at 1pm.

All clinical trials are registered on clinicaltrials.gov. You can filter your search by several areas including: condition, location, treatment, and certain eligibility criteria (click on “More Filters”).
Observational Studies
Observational studies, including neuroimaging studies and behavioral studies about language and other parts of cognition
Observational studies examine how people with aphasia present and how aphasia can change over time. Observational studies can help lead to the development of new therapies and provide a deeper understanding of what aphasia can “look like.”
Qualitative Studies
Qualitative studies, including interviews and focus groups
Qualitative studies can provide deeper insight into what it means to live with aphasia.
