Music-Based Intervention After Stroke

What is the research about?
- You will be asked to complete 3 research sessions where you make decisions about what you see and hear
- You will be randomly selected to be in 1 of 3 groups: either the music listening group, the audiobook listening group or no listening (control group)
- Depending on the group you are in, you will be asked to complete 30 minutes of music or audiobook listening a day and meet with our researchers one time per week
- The study is a total of 18-20 weeks and can be completed virtually or in-person at Purdue University
Where does this research study take place?
Virtually over secure Zoom; In-person at Purdue University's main campus or satellite campus locations
Can I participate virtually?
Yes
Who is this study for?
- adults at least 18 years of age
- aphasia following stroke occurring at least 6 months prior
- have laptop or desktop computer with stable internet connection if participating virtually (no tablets or iPads, please)
- speaker of American English
Who is this study not for?
- red or green color blindness
- previous attention disorder or other neurological condition (Parkinson's disease, dementia, etc.) before stroke diagnosis
Will I be compensated for this study, or are there costs?
