What is the research about?

  • We are recruiting stroke survivors with alexia. This is a reading difficulty after stroke.
  • The goal of this study is to understand how reading can be impacted by stroke. We hope to improve the diagnosis and treatment of alexia.
  • This study includes reading, language, and cognitive tests. It also includes an optional MRI.

Where does this research study take place? Washington, DC

Can I participate virtually? No

Who is this study for?

  • Stroke to the left hemisphere (left side) of the brain
  • 18 years or older
  • Learned English before the age of 8

Who is this study not for?

  • History of other neurological disorders (e.g., MS, tumor, etc.)
  • History of major psychiatric condition (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, etc.)
  • History of a learning disability (e.g., developmental dyslexia)

Will I be compensated for this study, or are there costs?

$50 per session in cash
