Speaking Out 2025

The National Aphasia Association (NAA) is proud to announce the official return of the Speaking Out Conference!

Conference Overview

When: Friday, October 3rd – Saturday, October 4th 2025

Where: Online – you can join from anywhere!

What is it about?

  • This is a conference for people with aphasia 
  • You will hear from others living with aphasia 
  • There will be live and recorded sessions
  • You can watch it anytime

Who Should Join?

  • People with aphasia
  • Carepartners

Also Welcome:

  • Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs)
  • Researchers
  • SLP Students

Here’s a simple guide to how you can participate:

📹 1. Tell Your Story (Personal Video Submission)

Do you have a story about living with aphasia — the struggles, successes, or daily life experiences? We want to hear from you!

🎥 Make a short, aphasia-friendly video and share:

  • What helped you most after your diagnosis
  • What it’s like to work, parent, or connect with others
  • Tips or advice for others living with aphasia

Your video will be added to the NAA’s YouTube “Voices of Aphasia” library.

👥 2. Join or Lead a Panel

We’re hosting live Zoom panel discussions with 4 themes:

  • Connections
  • Caregivers & Carepartners
  • Resources
  • Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA)

You can:

  • Create a panel with 3–8 people on a specific topic
  • Register as an individual and be placed on a panel by the committee
  • Share video clips during your panel (optional)

🏘️ 3. Showcase Your Aphasia Group or Support Center

Help us build a national video library of aphasia programs and services.

If you run a support group, university clinic, aphasia center, or resource hub — create a short video about what you do, and how you support people with aphasia. These will be featured on our YouTube channel and help connect others across the country.

🎥 Include large font, simple language, and visuals if possible

🎉 4. Host a Watch Party!

Gather your group, friends, or community members to watch the live Zoom sessions together.

You’ll get:

  • Access to live sessions
  • A schedule of events
  • Support materials from the NAA
