Sophia Mascari

Summer Intern

Sophia Mascari is a recent honors graduate of the University of Delaware. During her time at UD, she majored in cognitive science on a track to pursue speech-language pathology. Working with Dr. Rebecca Hunting Pompon in the Aphasia and Rehabilitation Outcomes lab as an undergraduate piqued her interest in aphasia and helped her closely engage with this population through research.

Sophia is passionate about creating and distributing resources that can help people living with aphasia, which is what motivated her to become involved with the work of the NAA and the mental health provider project. During her time at UD, she founded and served as co-president of a registered student organization called Women in Healthcare. The group eventually grew to almost 700 members and focused on supporting undergraduates looking to pursue a career in healthcare through both educational and well-being-focused meetings. She is extremely grateful and excited to be joining the NAA this summer as an intern before beginning her master’s degree in speech-language pathology at St. John’s University in Queens, NY, this fall.
