• Cycling Across America in 101 Poems: A Stroke Recovery Journey

Michael chronicles his bike ride from Missoula, Montana to Revere Beach, Massachusetts. The ride was organized by Stroke Onward. Each of the 101 poems captures a day on the road including the beauty of the landscapes, the unpredictable weather, and the grueling yet exhilarating rhythm of the ride. The poems reveals how each mile pedaled mirrors Michael’s ongoing journey of recovery after his stroke, especially his journey towards language recovery. An inspiration and a support for individuals with aphasia, this book demonstrates the power of poetry as a means of reclaiming self-expression.
