Speaking Out 2026: From Awareness to Action

Speaking Out is returning on September 25, 2026, and we’d love to see you there! This year, the National Aphasia Association is bringing the aphasia community together to take the conversation from awareness to action.

Speaking Out 2026 is about more than presentations. It’s about more voices, more conversations, and more participation.

We Heard You!

You wanted more time to talk to each other. So this year, we are creating space for participants to connect, share experiences, exchange ideas, and decide what YOU want to do next. You don’t need to be a presenter to have a voice! Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to join small-group conversations about:

  • Advocating for yourself
  • Advocacy in your community
  • What’s working and what barriers are out there
  • Ideas we can borrow from one another
  • What each of us can do next

Less “Sit & Get;” More “Talk & Do”

Speaking Out 2026: From Awareness to Action is all about what we can do next. Come prepared to ask questions, share ideas, and learn from one another!

Who should Join?

Speaking Out is a conference for people with aphasia by people with aphasia. Speech-language pathologist (SLPs), researchers, SLP students, and other advocates are also welcome!

Whether you have been advocating for years or are just beginning to find your voice, there is a place for you in this conversation.

We can’t wait to hear your voice, learn from your experience, and build the next chapter of advocacy together.
