Aphasia Awareness Month 2026

June is National Aphasia Awareness Month

The National Aphasia Association is excited to announce our theme and initiative for the 2026 Aphasia Awareness month: United for Aphasia Awareness. This is a nation-wide movement bringing together individuals and communities across the country with one shared goal: Recognize June as National Aphasia Awareness Month in every state!

Watch the Map Come to Life

NAA Ambassadors and advocates across the country have been reaching out to local and state legislators to request proclamations recognizing June as National Aphasia Awareness Month. As proclamations are secured, each state is highlighted on our map. Check back every Monday and Thursday to see the progress and watch awareness grow in real time! What begins with a single advocate quickly becomes a national movement.

Map Key:

  • Dark Teal: State Proclamation
  • Light Teal: City / County Proclamation
  • Purple: Other Official Recognition (e.g., Letter of Support, Official Statement, etc)

Led by the NAA, Powered by the Aphasia Community

The NAA created this initiative and developed a comprehensive Proclamation Toolkit to support it.  The toolkit includes Step-by-step guidance, Ready-to-use templates, Follow-up support and Resources for sharing success with media and communities.

Our volunteer NAA Ambassadors spearheaded this initiative, inspiring others to get involved. People with aphasia, care partners, speech-language pathologists, and community leaders are reaching out, sharing their stories, and helping bring awareness to their states. Many are working together in teams, supporting one another, and building connections along the way.

A Movement You Can Support

Every step forward, from developing tools to sharing these stories nationwide, is made possible through the generosity of those who support the NAA’s mission!  We clearly envision a world where there are no barriers to living fully with aphasia, and work daily to make that happen!

If you are inspired by this work, we invite you to get involved in a way that feels meaningful to you:
